Abstract:This book is concerned primarily with the peoples of the littoral fringe and off-shore is islands (Zanzibar, Pemba, Tumbutu) of Kenya and Tanganyika, since this is the region where Islam is deeply implanted. The coastal region stretches from the Juba River in Somalia to Cape Delgado in Mozambique.
