Abstract:This article was written by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Western Region. Nigeria. In addition to the work already being undertaken by Agricultural Extension Staff to change the outlook of the existing farmers means are found of changing the present attitude on farming and of stimulating in the (annual output of about 150,000) school leavers the hope that they can derive from a well-planned farming system a comparable income to what others with similar skill and education can expect from other occupations. This Settlement Scheme, designed primarily to appeal to educated young men in the first place, is in the long run intended to set the pattern for farming in general.
