Abstract:A detailed study on the effect of the 3 principal religions, Catholicism, Islam, and Protestantism in the face of the great mass of animists. Felupe, Baiote, Bankum, Paoel, Brâme, Balonta, Bijago are entirely animist. Slightly islamised: Manjaco, Some Balanta, considerably islamized Cassanga, Nalu, Beafada, Bajaranca. Entirely islamized: Mandinga, Fula, Sosso. The possibility of conversion to Catholicism is analysed by tribes. Figures: Catholic 19.000, Muslim 190.000, Protestant 203, Animist 310.000, Druzo 1.134. There are 450 schools for instruction in the Koran with 10.000 matriculated pupils. There are 14 catholic missions. The fully islamized peoples are actively engaged in the diffusion of Islam. Suggestions are made for the checking of the spread of Islam in Guinea.
