Abstract:The article analyses Senghor's unique intellectual intinerary and at the same time is it a brief tour through his fascinating mind. Influenced by diverse authors and philosophers Senghor formulated his theories of Négritude, Federation, and 'the African Road to Socialism'. French socialist and catholic authors, Marx, Véra Zassülich, as well as Hitler and Mussolini, among the 'strange bedfellows' who participated in the brith of Négritude.
