Abstract:Data provided by the 1995 and 1999 national October Household Surveys suggest a continued feminization of the labour force in South Africa, associated with rising levels of female unemployment and a feminization of low-paid insecure forms of employment. Correlates of women's increased labour supply include changes in education and fertility rates, women's marital status, and household composition. App., bibliogr., notes, ref.
