Abstract: | In 1985, a group of high school students known as the Wynberg 7 were arrested and incarcerated in Pollsmoor Prison after being convicted of public violence. Viewed through the lens of anti-apartheid youth struggles of Cape Town, featuring archival images, the documentary looks into the youth-driven political struggle of the 1980s. The film offers an insightful look into the effects their political activity has had on their lives at present and shows the post-traumatic stress suffered by many involved in South Africa's liberation struggle. Some of the Wynberg 7, who didn't testify at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, still have criminal records which means they can't travel, can't get certain jobs. The sacrifices they made should not be forgotten. [Abstract reproduced from dvd-video] |
