Abstract:The desirability of stabilisation of primary commodity prices or export earnings is part of the case the operations of the Cameroon Commodity Marketing Board, international commodity agreements, marketing arrangements which increase opportunities for export earnings from primary products. However, there are still some misgivings as to the effectiveness of price, real incomes and terms of trade stabilisation, commodity agreements and marketing arrangements as methods for increasing export earnings from primary products. The various approaches are surveyed, with special emphasis on the reforms of the Cameroon National Commodity Marketing Board operations, potentialities of commodity agreements, quantitative control of supply conditions through the application of science and technology to stabilise real incomes, terms of trade and export earnings of an internationally traded basket of primary export products.
