| Abstract: | Under the auspices of the Scandinavian Institute of African Studies a research project on refugees and development in Africa ran from 1982 to 1985, when it was concluded with a seminar, held in Uppsala from 28 to 30 October 1985. The book contains eight contributions to the seminar and summaries of discussions. The papers deal with 'Peoples, rights, refugees' (3), 'A right to development' (2), and 'A case study of refugee problems in the Sudan' (2). Common views on the refugee situation in Africa are further presented. The OAU African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights (the Banjul Charter) of 1981 is published as an appendix. |
