| Abstract: | The purpose of this study is to provide information that may be useful to the schools in the Kisii and Kericho Districts of Kenya in developing educational programmes. The study is limited to the private technical or commercial institutions in the district. It is further limited to the following considerations: 1. Characteristics of students in the institutions and individual influence to join institutions; 2. Characteristics of course work or training provided by the institutions; 3. Characteristics of managers and teachers in the institutions. The data on which the research is based came from a questionnaire which was administered to teachers, managers or heads of institutions and students in the two districts. The institutions are divided into two groups: private commercial colleges/institutions and village polytechnics. |
