| Abstract: | After a brief background note on the political and social realities of present-day South Africa, which any new constitution must take into account, the author examines a selection of issues relevant to the debate on the constitutional future of South Africa. These include the following questions: Who should have franchise rights? Should South Africa be a unitary or a federal State (or a mixture of the two)?
