Abstract:This paper commences with an impressionistic view of the principal forms of economic interdependence in Southern Africa, as manifested in trade flows, including infrastructural and other services, financial flows, human resource flows, and institutional and infrastructural cooperation. Then it looks at the changes that have taken place in these forms of interdependence in recent years, and considers the possibilities and choices for the various parties involved that arise. These parties are South Africa and its closely associated neighbours Transkei, Bophuthatswana, Venda and Ciskei, as well as South West Africa/Namibia and the SADCC countries.
