| Abstract: | Wealth ranking is a simple field research technique. By using the technique, researchers, planners and extension agents can learn in what ways rich and poor households in an area are different from each other, and the relative wealth status of each household in selected communities. It is a fast and effective way of gaining socioeconomic data on small, rural communities, providing an accurate basis for further investigations. This manual describes the wealth ranking technique and in particular its application in Kenya Maasailand for a single group ranch and in Meru District as part of a feasibility study conducted for a farmer training centre which was considering the desirability of initiating livestock courses for local people. |
