Abstract:This paper investigates the reading levels of three recommended Junior Certificate and Ordinary Level science texts in Zimbabwe secondary schools. Although the four different readability formulae (Spache, Flesch, Dale-Chall and Mugoford) applied predicted different reading levels, the investigation shows that the readability levels are within the age groups (ranging between 13 and 16 years) in Zimbabwe secondary schools.
