| Abstract: | The Bororo or migrant Fulani have long re sisted all attempts to educate their children in formal type schools. The author provides the first systematic and sustained investigation into the ways and means to make available new and relevant education for nomadic families. The analysis begins with an explanation of the origins of the cattle Fulani, the migration in search of grazing and water, their indigenous learning within the home and immediate environment. He discusses the attitudes of the Bororo towards formal cducation; he reports on experiments in educating the nomadic Fulani and describes the learning orientation of the children. Finally hc discusses the development of nomadic education strategics. |
