| Abstract: | The Treason Trial of 1985 is the trial of 16 people who opposed the South African State's attempt to introduce a tricameral parliament. They were arrested in August 1984 and in February 1985. This book is a report of the trial. Section 1 describes the arrest and charge for treason. Section 2 deals with the State's case, which depended primarily on the evidence of one expert witness and his interpretation of the activities of the accused and the organizations they represented, namely that these activities prescribed revolution and the violent and treasonable overthrow of government of South Africa. Section 3 contains parts of songs and chants and abstracts from speeches, cited in the indictment. Section 4 presents the biographies of the 16 accused. |
