Abstract:The first article in this section on constitutional issues in South Africa deals with political accountability during the period of transition (F. Van Zyl Slabbert). This is followed by the National Party's proposals for a future democratic South African Constitution; the discussion document on constitutional proposals by the Democratic Party a critical analysis of the constitutional proposals of the National Party by Fanie Jacobs; an interview on constitutional issues with Kader Asmal, a member of the ANC Constitutional Committee who has recently returned to South Africa after thirty years of exile; and comments of Roger Southall on the proposals of the National Party for a new Constitution.
