Abstract:This annotated bibliography on famine in Africa is divided into four sections. The first contains materials dealing with famine from a general perspective, i.e. causes, effects, policies, actions, etc. The second section contains materials addressing the causes of famine. The third part examines the different policies, adopted or proposed by countries and scholars, for the prevention of famine. The last part lists materials related to food aid and relief efforts by the international community for famine-affected African countries. Materials listed in this work include journal articles and monographs, plus a few feature articles from reputable Nigerian and foreign 'dailies'. Although titles from previous years are listed, the bulk of the publications date from the 1970s and 1980s. Most entries are provided with a concise summary.
