Abstract: | This paper gives an outline of the development of African historical studies in East Germany after World War II. In particular, it deals with the main topics and trends in the historical study of Africa during the period 1960-1990. The outline is followed by a bibliography which is divided into the following sections: colonialism, colonial rule and anticolonial reactions; problems of African historical research; historiographic problems; early and precolonial African history; and contemporary African history. The material listed includes monographs, theses, and periodical articles. Ref. |
