Abstract: | Account of the role of the Anglican Church leadership during the crucial phase of the Zimbabwean struggle for liberation and nationhood (1964-1980). The author has confined himself almost entirely to an examination of the documentary evidence in the form of sermons, statements, articles, interviews and letters. The degree to which the economic and power relations were the same in Church as in State are key factors for an understanding of what happened between the Anglican Church and the State during this period of Zimbabwe's history. |
