Abstract:The setting up of a Network of Educational Innovation for Development in Africa (NEIDA) was part of a global UNESCO policy aimed at bringing developing countries to benefit from one another's experiences and expertise in relating education to development. The purpose of NEIDA, which became operational in 1978, is development; its field of action is education; innovation is its prime concern; cooperation, its mode of operation; networking, its strategy. The author describes the structure of NEIDA, its goals, activities and achievements, and its close cooperation with African higher educational institutions.
