Abstract: | Two articles which deal with the question of why Christians and Marxists in South Africa should participate in a common struggle against apartheid. One, 'The comradeship of Marx and Jesus', by Cedric MAYSON, pays attention to the role of progressive Christians, to the relevance of theology to the liberation struggle, to the Bible as a book about establishing social justice, and to Jesus as a revolutionary person. The other, 'We must join hands against the common enemy', by Michael LAPSLEY, emphasizes the fact that, in the South African context, the Christian-Marxist dialogue has been the fruit of the experience of a people who have fought in the same trench, and that the most consistent ally in the struggle against apartheid is the Soviet Union, not the Western powers which claim to subscribe the Christian values.
