Abstract:Reproduction of the text of the Sudan Charter, prepared by the National Islamic Front, the third major political force in Sudan, and presented at a two-day conference in Khartoum in January 1987. The text is preceded by a brief introduction in which the author outlines the background to the document: the problem of southern Sudan and the issue of the shari'ah (Islamic laws). The Sudan Charter was produced as a working paper for the suggested constitutional conference. Note, ref.
