Abstract:Italian text. Sum.: The Masai Project, one of the most important interventions for the development of the traditional cattle breeding sector in Africa, has been carried out for ten years (1970-1980) in the Masai area of Tanzania by American experts concerned with range management. The results have been very disappointing. This article, which is based on project material and data from a field survey, evaluates the project's experiences by relating them to the traditional reproductive strategies of the Masai pastoralists. Ref., sum. also in French.
