Abstract: | Using a dynamic recursive linear programming model, the author analyses the Egyptian agricultural sector, particularly with regard to testing the effects on land and water resource allocation resulting from changes in pricing policy. The premises for the analysis were to predict some of the changes that would be associated with a gradual shift to market forces. An examination of the static (single year) and dynamic (intertemporal) adjustment of agricultural land use, in response to price changes, is made. Also, the efficiency of land utilization in agriculture is examined under the existing price structure. Bibliogr., notes. |
