Abstract:Despite the fact that various individual and collective freedoms, such as freedom of movement, residence, opinion, all forms of expression, assembly, association and membership of any trade union or political body, are embodied in the 1972 constitution currently in force in Morocco, the authorities do not hesitate to impinge upon them. The violation in particular of the freedom of association, of the press, of assembly and trade union freedom is demonstrated in both the promulgation of laws restricting their scope and in administrative practices. The relationship between the authorities and the opposition provides another example of the violation of human rights. Since independence, three parties have been prohibited or suspended, and the government has increasingly taken repressive action in various forms against the leaders, militants and publications of the lawful opposition.
