Abstract: | Tuberculosis is an infectious disease which is endemic in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria. The wide spread of the disease is facilitated by poor housing conditions, poor nutrition and all other debilitating diseases like diabetes. Prevalence of the disease is high among young children and young adults constituting 79.5 percent of the total number of inpatients. Severity of the disease is heightened by late presentation as 43.4 percent of those examined presented at the advanced stage. Public enlightenment on the importance of immunization coupled with case finding and prompt treatment are effective control and preventive measures. Ref. |
