Abstract:Attention is focussed on structural and spatial organization problems which constrain effective food processing and manufacture in Nigeria. The development of the food industry and its full integration within the national development framework require a favourable combination of a number of factors, viz. level of technology, quantity and quality of agricultural output (including livestock and fisheries), infrastructural facilities, and marketing structures and institutions. Nigeria's food industry is examined in relation to each of these factors and the policy implications are spelled out. Bibliogr., notes.
