Abstract: | The role of Oku Cultural Association (OCA), a mutual help association organized by the Oku people of Bamenda (Cameroon), means a lot in Oku urban life and in the interrelations between Oku villages and Bamenda town. The author describes the Oku rural areas, the Oku quarters in Bamenda town where rural migrants live, and the various activities of OCA, which include mutual help, the maintenance of a dance team, individual savings, simple loan, and 'ngwaa' or rotating loan.
