| Abstract: | Throughout the colonial period, the rudiments of the theory of public finance were strictly adhered to, but in accordance with the objectives of economic imperialism. The author demonstrates the various methods by which Nigeria's financial exploitation was effected without any qualms. Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, Nigeria's revenues continued to increase and reserves as well as surpluses were invested abroad. At no time was an industrial project mentioned or proposed by the central administration. Notes, ref. |
