Abstract: | In an article published in 'A Current Bibliography on African Affairs' in 1989, Jose Curto attempted to construct a viable bibliographic tool on works concerned with the study of alcohol in the African setting. However, the West African region is relatively underrepresented in the nearly 500 titles he listed. The present paper expands the alcohol titles primarily related to West Africa, and corrects and fills in omissions. The paper is divided into three sections: a dozen amendments to Curto's list, the signposting of several archives which hold notable source material on the subject (papers of the Native Races and Liquor Traffic United Committee (NRLTUC); publications of the Aborigines' Protection Society (APS); newspapers; papers of Herbert Macaulay, Kenneth Dike Memorial Library, University of Ibadan, Ibadan; papers of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Lambeth Place Library, London; and British parliamentary command papers), and a supplementary listing of further articles and books on alcohol in Africa.
