Uasin Gishu District (Kenya)
Abstract:This study assesses the availability of physical education learning resources in a sample of forty secondary schools in Uasin Gishu District of Kenya by means of a questionnaire survey administered to the heads of physical education departments and the head teachers of the schools in question. The results indicate inadequate provision of teaching and learning resources, especially reading materials, on the one hand, and satisfactory levels of equipment and outdoor facilities, on the other. There is a narrow scope of emphasis on a few sports, notably soccer, volleyball and athletics. The author concludes that the inadequate provision of learning resources and the limited number of sports provided adversely affect the children's experience in the learning process. Bibliogr., sum.
