| Abstract: | According to Jafaru Kogura, chairman of the task force set up to conduct the 1995 Nigerian hajj, and the Shehu of Borno, leader of Nigeria's federal delegation, the 1995 hajj was a resounding success. The present booklet, on the contrary, presents a picture of total official neglect, incompetence, abuse and corruption, including the illegal sale of hajj seats and the misappropriation of pilgrims' money, and indicates that the whole operation was far from smooth, with Nigerian pilgrims forced to suffer many hardships as a result. |
