Abstract:Very little information is available on the lifestyles, health and rate of HIV infection among street children in Zimbabwe. This report outlines the risk to HIV run by street children in Harare, especially street boys, and assesses their knowledge of and attitudes towards AIDS. It is based on information collected by the team of outreach workers of Streets Ahead (a welfare organization working with marginalized children in Harare); the clinic for street children initiated by Streets Ahead as a result of its AIDS education programme; and the author's own doctoral research.
