| Abstract: | In South Africa the colonial divisions of geography, race, gender and space aided and sharpened by apartheid capitalism, have resulted in differing gender profiles. So the transformation of gender relations and of masculinity is an uneven process, experienced very differently by different men (depending on race and class). The author mentions many examples of men working with one another, and with women, for gender justice, internationally and in South Africa. One of the great advantages in South Africa is that the legal framework in which gender change is occurring rests on the idea of gender justice. Bibliogr. |
