| Abstract: | The more critically long-distance trade is examined, the more dimensions emerge which appear essential for an evaluation of its impact. One consequence worthy of consideration is the disease factor. The specific data to be examined here emanate from the Tanzanian Kerebe who inhabited an island/peninsula in the southeastern Victoria Nyanza during the 19th century. The discussion suggests the probable degree of disease impact upon the Kerebe.
