Abstract:This paper highlights the peculiar circumstances of the Federation of Nigeria whilst some historical reasons for such circumstances have been given. Then it mentions and examines some of the political and legal problems which have arisen so far under the Nigerian Constitution since October. 1, 1979: the separation of powers - the sharing of legislative powers - the inconsistency rule - residual matters - problems connected with revenue allocation - borrowing of moneys - public order - the State Attorney-General versus the Commissioner of Police - the judiciary.
