Abstract: | This article takes a close look at the nuclear race in one major area of the Third World. It considers the position of Africa in relation to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and then moves on to analyse carefully the international implications for Arab Africa, South Africa and Black Africa. Throughout, the spinoff ripples of the nuclear quest in each of these three key sub-regions are discussed, as well as the interlocking effects for both the continent as a whole, and the rest of the world.
