Abstract: | This article examines Nigeria's nuclear aspirations. It deals firstly with the global and African background against which the country's policy is formulated. Next, it discusses the nuclear aspirations and responses to South Africa and mentions the significance of the country's mineral resources. Then it considers the energy facilities and oil and gas supplements, as well as Nigeria's politicostrategic context and her role in international affairs, covering the socioeconomic context and the subject of technology transfer. Lastly, it deals with the nuclear factor in the making of decisions, briefly discusses the country's antinuclearists and ends with an assessment and conclusion. Notes, ref. |
