| Abstract: | The South African Foreign States Immunities Act came into operation on 20 November 1981. Through this Act the position of the foreign state called to litigate before a South African court is determined by legislation. The Act, the aim of which is 'to determine the extent of the immunity of foreign states from the jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic; and to provide for matters connected therewith' is clearly modelled on the British Act. The author comments on the several sections of the South African Act. Notes. |
