| Abstract: | Kabalega was from 1870-1899 king of the Nyoro. During his reign he almost succeeded in making a new Kitara. (In the 15th century Bunyoro-Kitara covered the present Republic of Uganda and was the most important empire of its day in eastern Africa.) European imperialism at the end of the 19th century made an end to his military conquests. In 1899 he was banished to the Seychelles Islands. Maps, photographs, bibl., notes. |
