Abstract:This paper examines the views of students of the University of Ghana as to the problems and causes of the general deprivation and underdevelopment in the rural areas of Ghana. The general view was that the rural problems were real and formidable and that these problems have generally come about because of the siphoning off of rural resources for the development of the urban sector by successive governments of Ghana. Several measures were suggested to correct the urban-rural imbalance. Notes, ref., sum., tab.
