| Abstract: | Description by a social anthropologist of the Farmech scheme, a tractor hire service for cultivations in a selected area and a threshing service in the adjacent areas. In the first phase the project was no success for reasons of politics, economics and communications, but improvements in these areas allowed Farmech to get off the ground. Once it got going the visible advantages of the project protected it from those factors of failure operating in the country as a whole. |
