Abstract: | The Ethiopian Revolution of 1974 which abolished feudalism and nationalized major means of production has had major impacts on the employer-employee (worker) relationship. The Labour Proclamation of 1975 gives the worker, the source of all production, as such the right to work free from exploitation, and assures the proper protection of his safety and health in order to improve his standard of living. Comparison of the provisions of the new Labour Law with earlier ones reveals the changes and benefits newly acquired by the worker. Main aim in this paper is not to simply record or catalogue these changes but to examine some methods and legal arrangements utilized by the new law in the realization of these rights and benefits and assess their contribution in this regard. - Notes. |
