Abstract:The West Africa Committee is an international association of nearly 175 firms representing trading concerns, banks, industrialists, shipping etc. as well as professional firms. It is mainly concerned with the four Commonwealth countries of Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone and the Gambia. The chief purpose is to offer a two-way liaison, as well as understanding and Information, which will aid and stimulate their economic development by firms, companies and individuals from outside West Africa to the mutual advantage of these countries and the members of the Committee. The article is based primarily on the personal experience of the author as advisor to the Committee. The successive parts are: Nigeria Ghana, Sierra Leone and the Gambia - West Africa and the Common Market.
