Abstract: | Concerned with African aliens, who are present in far greater numbers than the Lebanese and whose position has become increasingly insecure in recent years. (The growth in the economic power of Lebanese businessmen and local reactions to this competition have been ably discussed by M. Hanna, F.I. Khuri, W.R. Stanley, R.B. Winder.) This article deals particularly with the Ghanaian experience because it was much larger in scale than elsewhere and because more detailed information is available: History and demography - Economic causes of resentment - Political aspects - Social problems - Individual attitudes - Results of the Ghana expulsions.
