Abstract: | This study 1) attempts to demonstrate that there exist rock carvings whose position beside burials makes it likely that they are contemporary; 2) discusses the architectural similarity - real or imagined - between certain Euro-Mediterranean stone monuments and others in the Sahara, along with a few common practices; 3) tries to see whether there has been a priestly/leading class in Northwestern Sahara/Grand Canary who buried their dead in elaborate stone tombs.
