Abstract:The role of the Black in the South African economy as entrepreneur has so far received little attention. This paper attempts to identify in broad outline the major facets of this role, with particular reference to Black entrepreneurship in the manufacturing industry. The entrepreneurial development of the Blacks is seen the recent economic history of South Africa and is discussed here in four stages: 1) some brief remarks on the need for industrialization in South Africa; 2) the present participation of Blacks in the industrialization process; 3) some prospects for future participation; 4) concluding remarks.
