| Abstract: | This paper concentrates on the conditions of white old age pensioners in central Johannesburg. The first part consists of a review of old age pension schemes in a number of other countries and in South Africa. It also discusses minum living requirements, the poverty datum line and the needs of the aged. The second part is concerned with the central Johannesburg study. It describes the methodology used and the research results and ends with some recommendations. |
