Abstract:Deals with the since 1957 current policy of the Wage Board of emphasizing and augmenting Bantu earnings. The Board's minimum rates have had a much greater effect on Bantu earnings than on White workers' earnings. Wage determination have increased Bantu earnings as much as 30%. Examined is the impact of the Wage Board on Bantu real earnings. The inquiry is restricted to those determinations which were made between 1957 and 1966. Also examined: the influence of other factors on Bantu real earnings. Attempted is to determine if the observed changes in Bantu real earnings have had any visible impact on Bantu employment opportunities. Notes, tables.
