Abstract: | This article deals with the Colonial Development Corporation which, established by an Act of 1948, provided for the development which entails a commercial risk in the territories which were then British dependent colonies. By an Act of 1963 its name was changed to the Commonwealth Development Corporation and it regained power to operate freely in all those territories in which it could operate in 1948, but not in Commonwealth countries which had become independent before the 1948 Act became law.
